The Kales Building is an eighteen-story apartment tower in downtown Detroit, Michigan, designed by Albert Kahn and completed in 1914. Located at the northeast corner of Adams Avenue West and Park Avenue in the Foxtown neighborhood near Grand Circus Park, the structure exemplifies Kahn's distinctive approach to urban residential architecture. Moving beyond the severity of Chicago School aesthetics, Kahn articulated the façade with clean lines and neoclassical and Renaissance revival details, including a hipped roof and arched upper windows. Originally named the Kresge Building upon its construction, the building was renamed in 1930 and comprises nineteen floors total when including the basement level.
