Radboud Castle, situated on the east bank of Medemblik's harbour in the Netherlands, is a Gothic Revival château completed before the St. Lucia's Flood of December 1287. Commissioned by Floris V, Count of Holland, the castle served crucial defensive purposes throughout its history: it sheltered townsfolk during Grutte Pier's pirate raids in 1517 and was later surrendered to Diederik Sonoy and the Geuzen in 1588. Its strategic importance diminished after the construction of city walls around Medemblik in 1572. The building, redesigned in the Gothic Revival style by architect Jacobus van Lokhorst, suffered from dismantling and neglect over centuries. Today it is a museum and designated Rijksmonument, representing one of North Holland's significant castle monuments.
