Built in 1939 as part of a major New Deal initiative, the Kenney Lake Overlook is a historic roadside park in Garrison Township, Minnesota, situated along the southbound lane of Minnesota State Highway 18. Designed by Arthur R. Nichols in the National Park Service rustic style, the two-acre site features a parking area and overlook facing a small lake. The overlook was constructed under the Mille Lacs Highway Development Plan, the largest highway improvement project in Minnesota's history at the time, executed primarily through the Civilian Conservation Corps and its Veterans Division. The site represents early scenic improvements undertaken by the Minnesota Highway Department and was recognized in 2015 on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in landscape architecture and government work during the Depression era.
