The Lalla ez-Zahr Mosque, completed in 1357 in Fes el-Jdid within Fez's historic medina, exemplifies Marinid Islamic architecture under Sultan Abu Inan. Built from brick, rock, and wood, the mosque is also known as the Mosque of Stone, a name derived from its distinctive stone portal entrance. The structure, whose Arabic name translates to "Mosque of the Lady of the (Orange Tree's) Flower," remains a notable example of fourteenth-century Moroccan religious architecture.
