The Jāmeh Mosque of Abarkuh, a Friday mosque in Yazd Province, Iran, exemplifies the layered architectural history of medieval Islamic Iran. Originally completed during the Buyid era, the structure underwent successive expansions and renovations during the Seljuk, Ilkhanid, Timurid, and Safavid periods, culminating in its present form in 1338 CE. Located adjacent to the city square, the mosque displays the architectural characteristics of each era in which it was modified, constructed from brick, marble, tile, plaster, and lime mortar. Designated as an Iranian National Heritage property in 1933, it stands as an important example of Shi'ite religious architecture and the evolving design traditions of central Iran.
