Standing outside the Fusilier Museum in Bury, Greater Manchester, the Lancashire Fusiliers War Memorial is a First World War monument designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and unveiled on 25 April 1922, marking the seventh anniversary of the regiment's costly landing at Cape Helles during the Gallipoli Campaign. Lutyens, commissioned to design the memorial owing to his father and great uncle's service as officers in the Lancashire Fusiliers, created a tall, slender obelisk in Portland stone. The regiment's cap badge, carved near the top and flanked by a laurel wreath, adorns both front and rear, while inscriptions lower down display the regiment's motto and dedication. Two painted stone flags hang from the sides. Originally positioned outside the regiment's Wellington Barracks headquarters, the memorial was relocated in the 1970s when the barracks closed, and moved again in 2009 to its current site in the newly named Gallipoli Gardens. Designated Grade II* listed in 2015, it was later recognized as part of the national collection of Lutyens' war memorials.
