Laxenburg castles are a complex of imperial palaces located outside Vienna in the town of Laxenburg, jointly owned by Vienna and Lower Austria. Acquired by the Habsburg dynasty in 1333, they served as a favored summer retreat alongside Schönbrunn Palace. The Blauer Hof Palace was the birthplace of notable royal family members, including Crown Prince Rudolf, while the nearby Franzensburg castle forms part of the ensemble. Set within an English garden, the castles are preserved as heritage monuments and now function as venues for events, conferences, and concerts, while operating as a museum that maintains their historic collections of paintings and furnishings.
