Completed in 2015, Life Electric is a deconstructivist steel sculpture by Daniel Libeskind installed on the breakwater of Lake Como in Italy. Dedicated to the physicist Alessandro Volta, the work was commissioned by the non-profit association Amici di Como and donated to the city by Libeskind, who established an architecture school there in 1988. The design engages with the Rationalism movement that dominated Como's architectural landscape during the 1920s and 1930s. Now designated Italian national heritage, the sculpture stands as a contemporary monument on the lake's edge.
