Lövstad Castle, a seventeenth-century château near Norrköping in Östergötland, Sweden, was built by Axel Lillie following the earlier fifteenth-century origins of the estate. The castle passed through prominent Swedish aristocratic families—the von Fersens through Hedvig Catharina De la Gardie and the Pipers through Countess Sophie Piper, wife of Chamberlain Adolf Ludwig Piper and sister of the notable Count Axel von Fersen. The interior decoration remained substantially unchanged until the death of the last private owner, Emilie Piper, in 1926. Acquired by the Östergötlands museum in 1940 and opened to the public two years later, Lövstad now operates as a museum offering guided tours and stands as a listed building complex of cultural significance.
