The London Cemetery and Extension, located near High Wood at Longueval in France, is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Established in 1916 following the Battle of Flers-Courcelette, it began with 47 burials of London Division soldiers killed on 15 September and expanded to 101 graves by the Armistice. The extension, created in the postwar years, consolidated graves from surrounding battlefields, transforming it into the third largest cemetery of the Somme battlefield with 3,872 World War I burials. The original shell-hole cemetery remains preserved within the expanded grounds. In addition to its primary World War I interments, the cemetery holds 165 World War II reburials in a dedicated section.
