The Longchamp Racecourse, a 57-hectare horse-racing facility in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris's 16th arrondissement, was established in 1857 and designed by architects Antoine-Nicolas Bailly and Dominique Perrault. Built for flat racing, the course is distinguished by its interlaced tracks and a challenging hill that tests competing thoroughbreds. With multiple racetracks ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 metres and 46 different starting posts, Longchamp hosts more than half of France's Group One races and accommodates 50,000 spectators. The venue's most prestigious event is the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, held the first weekend in October and attracting elite horses from around the world. The luxury leather goods company Longchamp took its name from the racecourse.
