The Petite Écurie, designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and completed in 1681, stands on the Place d'Armes in Versailles opposite the Palace of Versailles, between the Avenue de Paris and Avenue de Sceaux. Originally one of two royal stables (the other being the Grande Écurie) that together formed the Écuries royales—a vast institution that employed approximately 1,000 people under Louis XIV—the building has been repurposed in modern times. It now houses the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles and the workshops of the Centre for Research and Restoration of Museums of France, and is classified as a historical monument.
