Louise Freer Hall stands on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as the final building designed by Charles A. Platt in 1930. Built in Georgian Revival style, it was originally known as the Women's Gymnasium and provided expanded facilities for the women's physical education department, which had outgrown its previous quarters in the Woman's Building. The gymnasium featured two general-purpose spaces, specialized facilities, and a physical education laboratory. In 1932, Louise Freer, the women's physical education director for whom the building was later named, added a lounge area to serve as a social space. The building remains in active use today, hosting intramural sporting events, physical education classes, and serving as the home venue for the Illinois Fighting Illini women's swimming and diving team. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
