The Loving County Courthouse in Mentone, Texas, is a two-story Streamline Moderne structure designed by architect Evan J. Wood and completed in 1935. Built as the county's first permanent courthouse following its organization in 1931 during a local oil boom, the building replaced a temporary courthouse constructed four years earlier. Wood received $2,684.60 for his design, which remains the tallest building in Loving County and stands as the sole symbol of county government there. Though the county briefly flourished, reaching a peak population of 600 in 1933, its numbers have since dramatically declined, underscoring the courthouse's importance as an enduring civic landmark in the region.
