Maatsuyker Island Lighthouse, built in 1891 on Maatsuyker Island in Tasmania's Huon Valley Council area, stands as a significant maritime landmark listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register. It was the last Australian lighthouse to be officially staffed by resident lightkeepers, continuing human operation long after automation became standard elsewhere. A second, automated lighthouse was installed on the island in 1996, though the future of volunteer operation at the original structure remains uncertain.
