Built in 1892, the Marcellus Luther and Julia Protzman Temple House in Osceola, Iowa is a Queen Anne style residence constructed for M.L. Temple, a local attorney who served seven terms in the Iowa House of Representatives and later became U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. The two-story frame structure exemplifies the style's characteristic irregularity and ornamentation: its multi-gabled roof is topped with fish-scale shingles, a tall chimney displays decorative inset panels, and the porches feature grill work and curvilinear trim. Temple sold the house to a family member in 1915, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
