The Yorck Memorial, situated on Bebelplatz in Berlin's Mitte district, commemorates the Prussian field marshal Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg (1759–1830). Executed in neoclassical style between 1840 and 1855 by sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch, the monument stands 2.65 meters tall and comprises granite and bronze elements characteristic of the Berlin school of sculpture. Originally positioned at the front of Unter den Linden avenue from its completion until 1950, where it formed part of an urban ensemble, the memorial was relocated to the rear of Bebelplatz in 1963, where it remains today as a cultural and architectural heritage monument.
