Designed by architect Kevin Roche of Roche-Dinkeloo and opened in 1976, the Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza is a 439-room hotel occupying the ground floor and top 13 stories of One United Nations Plaza, a 39-story skyscraper near UN headquarters in East Midtown Manhattan. The building's angular glass facade reflects the modernist vocabulary of its paired structures, One and Two UN Plaza, which together form a mixed-use complex with offices and hospitality spaces. The hotel's interior features a notable ground-floor lobby with mirrored surfaces and polygonal lamps, leading via ramp to the Ambassador Grill and Bar, a celebrated gathering place for UN diplomats. Guest rooms occupy the upper stories alongside restaurants, meeting spaces, a swimming pool, and an indoor tennis court. Originally developed by the United Nations Development Corporation and opened with 288 rooms, the hotel expanded to its current capacity following the 1983 completion of Two UN Plaza. The building's lobby and Ambassador Grill were designated New York City landmarks during renovations in the 2010s.
