The Minto Metropole is a 33-story residential tower completed in 2004 in the Westboro neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario. Standing 108 metres tall, it is the third-tallest building in the city and the second-tallest residential structure in the National Capital Region. The postmodern building occupies Island Park Drive on the near western side of the city, overlooking the Ottawa River and situated within walking distance of Westboro Station. The tower houses 153 condominiums. Its distinctive slender profile reflects a design compromise born from community opposition: Minto originally proposed a series of shorter waterfront towers, but residents protested that such a project would obstruct river views. The developer responded by proposing a single tall but slim tower instead, which city council approved following the necessary rezoning.
