The Mission Inn, located in downtown Riverside, California, is a sprawling historic landmark hotel and the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States. Originally developed beginning in 1876, the property was substantially expanded and refined by Frank Augustus Miller from 1880 until his death in 1935, during which time he synthesized architectural elements borrowed from California missions and European castles into a distinctive composite style. Miller's travels worldwide enabled him to acquire antiques and art that enriched the interiors. Designated a Riverside Historical Landmark, California Historical Landmark, and National Register of Historic Places listing, the hotel is recognized as a member of Historic Hotels of America.
