The Morrin Centre, located in Old Quebec, is a cultural institution housed in a Palladian stone building completed in 1808 by architects Joseph-Ferdinand Peachy and François Baillairgé. Now a national historic site of Canada, the centre functions as both a public cultural venue and repository of English-language heritage in Quebec City. It contains the private library of the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec, which has occupied the building since 1868 and holds the society's substantial collection of nineteenth-century scientific, historical, and literary materials alongside reprints of archival primary sources. The centre also provides heritage event spaces and interpretation services to educate visitors about the historic contributions and contemporary culture of the city's English-speaking community. Library access requires membership in the society.
