The National Brewing Company, founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1885, operated a brewery in the Highlandtown neighborhood that blended Moderne and Romanesque Revival architectural styles. After World War II, it became Baltimore's largest brewer, achieving cultural prominence through its iconic one-eyed mascot "Mr. Boh" and the slogan "From the Land of Pleasant Living." The brewery was acquired by Carling in 1975 and closed in 1978, with production relocated to Halethorpe. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
