The National Library of New Zealand, headquartered in Wellington on the corner of Aitken and Molesworth Streets, is a brutalist structure completed in 1965 situated near other national government buildings including Parliament and the Court of Appeal. Established under the 2003 National Library Act to enrich New Zealand's cultural and economic life, it serves as the country's legal deposit library and ISBN agency. The library preserves New Zealand's documentary heritage, supports schools nationwide through its Services to Schools unit, and collaborates with peer institutions internationally.
