The Neues Schloss in Meersburg, Baden-Württemberg, stands near Lake Constance as a baroque and Rococo structure begun in 1710 by architects Christoph Gessinger and an associate. From 1750 onward, it served as the residence of the Prince-Bishop of Constance until the bishopric's dissolution in 1803. Now a protected cultural monument, the castle represents the architectural ambitions of eighteenth-century ecclesiastical power in the region.
