Located on New Scotland Avenue in Albany, New York, this early twentieth-century brick armory was designed by Lewis Pilcher in a restrained Tudor Revival style, representing a departure from the heavier, fortress-like military structures of the previous century. Built for Troop B cavalry units of the New York National Guard, it is one of only six extant armories in the state designed specifically for mounted cavalry. The building served the Guard through most of the twentieth century before being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. Today it houses the offices of the University Heights Association and other community organizations and businesses.
