The New York Times Building is a 52-story skyscraper completed in 2007 at 620 Eighth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, near Times Square. Designed by Renzo Piano and Fox & Fowle following an architectural competition, the structure rises 1,046 feet to its pinnacle and is tied as the thirteenth-tallest building in New York City. The cruciform steel-framed tower features a distinctive glass curtain wall fronted by ceramic rods that deflect heat and glare, with exposed steel bracing visible at four corner notches. The building incorporates a four-story podium and was conceived as a green building, with lower floors housing the Times newsroom, retail space, and an enclosed garden, while upper floors serve as general office space. Completed for over one billion dollars, the building has served as headquarters for the New York Times Company, its chief tenant, with upper floors operated separately by Brookfield Properties.
