The Northern Pacific Railway Depot in Little Falls, Minnesota, designed by Cass Gilbert in 1899, exemplifies the Shingle Style architecture that characterized the renowned architect's Minnesota practice before his relocation to New York. Built of sandstone, wood, and brick at a cost not exceeding $7,000, the station blends Shingle Style with American Craftsman elements, most notably in its steeply pitched roof originally clad in cedar shingles. The depot served the railway until 1979, when a fire damaged the roof and ladies' waiting room, prompting a local community group to acquire and restore the building. It now houses the Little Falls Chamber of Commerce and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
