Built in 1912 and dedicated in January 1913, the Burlington Northern Railroad Depot in Chehalis, Washington is a Mission Revival brick structure that spans nearly a block adjacent to the railroad tracks. Constructed by Northern Pacific to replace an aging 1890 station, the building features a sectioned façade and gables characteristic of its style. The depot originally housed a passenger room, telegraph office, and baggage and freight areas, with the waiting area notably finished in enameled brick and a cove ceiling. A portion of the earlier station was relocated to the new site for use as a freight office. Now home to the Lewis County Historical Society and Museum, the station—which witnessed visits from Presidents Benjamin Harrison and Theodore Roosevelt—was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and remains part of the Chehalis Downtown Historic District.
