Ankara Opera House, located in the Altındağ district along Atatürk Boulevard, is the first and only opera house of the Turkish State Opera and Ballet. Originally conceived by Turkish architect Şevki Balmumcu as an exhibition center following his victory in an international competition in 1933, the building was subsequently redesigned by German architect Paul Bonatz for operatic use and inaugurated on April 2, 1948. Known also as the Grand Theater, it stands as a landmark cultural institution in Turkey's capital.
