Located at 526 and 506 South Main Street in Ottawa, Kansas, the Ottawa High School and Junior High School represent a pair of Collegiate Gothic educational buildings designed by George P. Washburn & Son. The high school, completed in 1917, was Ottawa's first building constructed solely as a high school. A complementary junior high school was constructed between 1927 and 1928 by the renamed firm Washburn & Stookey in matching architectural style, with an enclosed hallway connecting the two structures. After a new high school opened in 1966, the original buildings were repurposed as a middle school and later connected by a multi-purpose room. The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 6, 2000, and is also listed on the Register of Historic Kansas Places.
