The Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City's Cuauhtémoc district is a monumental cultural center standing 53 meters tall, recognized as an artistic monument. Initiated in 1904 by Italian architect Adamo Boari to replace the late-nineteenth-century National Theater and celebrate the centennial of Mexican independence, the project stalled due to soft subsoil complications and the Mexican Revolution. Construction resumed in 1932 under Mexican architect Federico Mariscal and concluded in 1934, with inauguration on 29 November that year. The exterior showcases Art Nouveau and Neoclassical styles, while the interior features Art Deco design. Built of marble, concrete, and steel, it houses performing arts events, literary gatherings, and plastic arts galleries alongside celebrated murals by González Camarena, Diego Rivera, Siqueiros, and others, including performances by the Ballet Folklórico de México.
