The Palau dels Esports de Barcelona is a modern indoor arena located on Lleida Street on the slopes of Montjuïc, a hill southeast of Barcelona's city centre. Designed by Josep Soteras i Mauri and Llorenç García-Barbón Fernández de Henestrosa, the multi-purpose venue was originally built to accommodate competitions in any indoor sport. In 2000, the space underwent significant adaptation to better serve theatre and musical performances, at which point it was renamed Barcelona Teatre Musical. The renovation reduced seating capacity from 8,000 to 3,500 while substantially improving comfort and acoustic quality. The structure is protected under urban heritage designation.
