The Peabody Institute Library, located on Main Street in Peabody, Massachusetts, is a two-story brick building constructed in 1853 in the Italianate style. Established in 1852 through a bequest from philanthropist George Peabody, a native of the town, the library is claimed to be the oldest continuously operating public library in the United States housed in its original location. The main facility now shares the system with branches on Lynn Street and Lowell Street, and the historic original building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
