Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1939 and 1941, the Pear Lake Ski Hut sits at 9,200 feet in the high Sierra east of Lodgepole in Sequoia National Park, California. Constructed from local Sierra granite and timber using the National Park Service Rustic style, the structure exemplifies this aesthetic through its rough masonry and log roof. Located a steep six miles from Wolverton Meadow, the hut accommodates up to ten guests and features separate quarters for a keeper, heated by a wood pellet stove. Open to the public for winter use between December and April, the structure also functions as a ranger station during summer months and has been recognized as "one of the most environmentally successful alpine structures ever designed by the NPS." It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
