Two historic structures in downtown Rock Island, Illinois—the Peoples National Bank Building and the Fries Building—exemplify the Chicago School architectural style. Built separately at different times, the buildings were later connected on their first three floors. Originally a department store, the complex was recognized for its architectural significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The pair subsequently became contributing properties within the Downtown Rock Island Historic District when it was established in 2020.
