Located at 213–217 West 2nd Street in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Peoples Building & Loan Building is a three-story masonry structure completed in 1903 that represents an unusually early precursor to the Prairie School of design. Its exterior of brick, limestone, and terra cotta displays characteristic horizontal and vertical emphasis through checkered brickwork, horizontally banded brick lines at the corners, and vertically oriented window groupings on the upper floors. The ground floor features retail bays articulated by Ionic pilasters. Recognized for its architectural significance, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
