The People's State Bank building stands in Orangeville, a village in Stephenson County, Illinois, embodying the Commercial style with Classical Revival detailing typical of American banking architecture in the 1920s. Erected in 1926 following the merger of two local banks, the structure served the community until 1932, when economic collapse during the Great Depression, compounded by the rerouting of traffic away from downtown Orangeville, forced its closure. The building reflects the Chicago School's influence on regional commercial design and was recognized for its historical significance when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
