Petco Park is a baseball stadium in downtown San Diego's East Village neighborhood, designed by Populous and opened in 2004 as the home of the San Diego Padres. The ballpark replaced San Diego Stadium, where the Padres played since their inception in 1969. A distinctive architectural feature is the Western Metal Supply Co. building, a historic warehouse whose southeast corner serves as the left field foul pole, seamlessly integrated into the stadium's design. Beyond the outfield wall, Gallagher Square offers a community park and viewing terrace accessible to the public during off-hours. The venue has hosted major events including the 2006 World Baseball Classic championship and the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.
