Protection High School in Protection, Kansas, was built in 1930 by the Hutchinson architectural firm Routledge & Hertz in Late Gothic Revival style, employing brick construction. Originally serving as the town's primary educational institution, the building received an extension in 1950 designed by Hibbs & Robinson to accommodate a grade school, and eventually housed both schools operated by Comanche County USD 300 under the names South Central Middle School and Elementary. The National Register of Historic Places recognized the structure in 2005, acknowledging its significance both as a vital institution in the development of this small rural community in southwest Kansas and as a representative example of the architects' educational work in the Gothic Revival manner.
