The Puente de la Mujer is a rotating footbridge designed by Santiago Calatrava for Dock 3 of Buenos Aires's Puerto Madero commercial district, completed in 2001. This steel structure stands 34 meters high and combines cantilever spar cable-stayed and swing bridge engineering in an asymmetrical arrangement: a single mast suspends portions of the span via cables, allowing the bridge to rotate 90 degrees to permit water traffic passage. When swung open, the far end rests on a stabilizing pylon, making it both a functional passage for pedestrians and a distinctive gateway for maritime movement through one of Argentina's major urban redevelopment zones.
