On Russia's Black Sea coast near Gelendzhik, an Italianate palace completed in 2005 stands as one of the country's most prominent private estates. Designed by architect Lanfranco Cirillo, the palace features the ornamental flourishes and classical proportions characteristic of Italian Renaissance-inspired architecture. The residence, believed to have been built for Vladimir Putin, remains among the most scrutinized examples of Russian presidential real estate.
