The Grand Kremlin Palace is a Russian Revival and Byzantine Revival structure in Moscow's Kremlin, designed under Konstantin Thon's direction and completed in 1838. Originally conceived to underscore the power of Russian autocracy, it served as the emperor's official Moscow residence throughout much of the nineteenth century, before Russia's capital moved elsewhere. Today the palace functions as the official working residence of the Russian president and contains a museum, retaining its symbolic importance as a federal cultural heritage site.
