The Ransley Apartment Building is a three-and-a-half-story residential structure in Cincinnati's Walnut Hills neighborhood, designed by Samuel Hannaford and completed in 1895. Built for businessmen S.C. and L.A. Ransley, who operated a chain of confectionery stores, the building combines brick and stone construction, with ashlar stonework on the first floor and brick above. Its most distinctive features include a corner turret facing the intersection of Kemper Lane and McMillan Street, and a recessed main entrance framed by a substantial stone archway bearing the building's name and date. Though broadly Victorian in character, the structure exhibits marked Romanesque Revival elements throughout its design. Hannaford, one of Cincinnati's most celebrated architects, was responsible for major civic buildings including City Hall and Music Hall. The Ransley was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 as part of a significant multiple-property submission encompassing fifty-five Hannaford-designed buildings.
