A residential block in Amsterdam's distinctive Amsterdam School style, this building at Beemsterstraat 41–55 is notable for its innovative kitchen placement at the front facade—a modern arrangement that gave the structure its name. The design features a wooden gable at the side, reflecting the characteristic ornamentation of early twentieth-century Amsterdam School architecture. Now designated as a Rijksmonument, the block exemplifies the residential experimentation and functional design principles that defined this influential Dutch architectural movement.
