The Rev. Francis E. Clark House, built in 1895 in Auburndale, a village within Newton, Massachusetts, exemplifies the exuberant Queen Anne style favored in late-nineteenth-century American residential architecture. This 2½-story wood-frame structure showcases the style's characteristic variety through its cross-gable configuration, prominent circular three-story corner tower capped by a conical roof, and dynamic composition of gables, projections, and irregularly placed windows. The house was constructed for Rev. Francis Edward Clark, founder of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavour, an influential youth religious organization. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
