The S. A. Pennington House, a two-story wood-frame residence at 1003 2nd Street in Elton, Louisiana, was built in 1911 for Dr. S. A. Pennington, the town's first resident physician. Primarily Queen Anne in style, the house incorporates Colonial Revival and Stick/Eastlake elements, distinguished by its two-story polygonal turret, a band of stained glass windows set just below the turret's roofline, and projecting bays and rooms. Dr. Pennington, who earned his M.D. from the University of Tennessee at Nashville in 1900 and studied at the New York Graduate School of Medicine, established his practice in Elton around 1907 after earlier work in Jacoby, Louisiana. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, the house later served as the parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Elton.
