Saint Bartholomew Monastery was a medieval Armenian monastery founded in 1201 in the historic province of Vaspurakan, located 23 kilometers northeast of Başkale in present-day Van Province, Turkey, near the Iranian border. Built in the Armenian architectural tradition, it occupied the site traditionally associated with the martyrdom of Bartholomew the Apostle, who is credited with bringing Christianity to Armenia in the first century and venerated as a patron saint of the Armenian Apostolic Church alongside Thaddeus. The monastery served as a significant pilgrimage destination until the Armenian genocide. Today it survives as heavily ruined remains, with its dome completely destroyed.
