Saint Sophia Cathedral stands on Moscow Road in Bayswater, London, serving as a focal point for the city's Greek Orthodox community since its consecration on 5 February 1882. Designed by architect John Oldrid Scott and completed in 1879, the church exemplifies Byzantine Revival architecture rendered in brick. Built to serve the prosperous Greek population that had settled in London's Paddington, Bayswater, and Notting Hill districts, it remains a Grade I listed building. Beyond its liturgical function, the cathedral hosts a Greek polyphonic choir and Byzantine music performances, while its associated school provides instruction in Greek history, language, and traditional dancing.
