The Saitta House is a two-and-a-half-story Queen Anne style dwelling completed around 1899 in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn, New York. Designed by architect John J. Petit of the firm Kirby, Petit & Green and constructed by builder P.J. la Note for the affluent Saitta family, the home stands on the north side of 84th Street between Eleventh and Twelfth Avenues. Built at a cost of $14,000 on an 8,000-square-foot lot, it represents a remarkably intact, high-style example of Queen Anne residential architecture from the turn of the twentieth century. The house is distinguished by retaining more of its original architectural and structural components—both interior and exterior—than any other surviving residence in Dyker Heights, a suburban development of that era. Italian-born craftsmen who lodged on the premises during construction contributed to its quality. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, the Saitta House exemplifies the planned suburban character of Dyker Heights and reflects John J. Petit's broader architectural presence in Brooklyn.
