Habib Pasha El Sakakini Palace stands in the al-Zahir district of Cairo at the convergence of eight roads, occupying a site that was once a lake. Completed in 1897 for contractor Gabriel Habib Sakakini, this five-storey structure exemplifies eclectic architecture, weaving together European, Ottoman, and Islamic design vocabularies with ornamental Rococo details adorning its façade. The palace contains 50 rooms, approximately 400 windows and doors, and some 300 statues. Following Sakakini's death in 1923, the building passed to the Egyptian government, subsequently serving as headquarters for the Socialist Union and housing the Health Education Museum until 1983. Registered as a monument in 1986 and designated an Islamic and Coptic antiquity the following year, the palace has undergone restoration as of 2024, with plans to establish it as a cultural centre.
